"Sermons We See"

I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day;
I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way.
The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear,
Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear;
And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see good put in action is what everybody needs.

"The Road not Taken"

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

The Beginning Story...

I was out on a date a few years ago (during my junior year of college I believe) with a girl attending the same university as I was and sometime throughout the middle of it the girl said to me, “So what about you Kyle, what’s your story.” Interestingly enough I had been practicing a new concept I was recently was exposed to, “God gave you 2 ears, 2 eyes, and one mouth. Use them proportionately.” What a magical concept, no? Unknowingly to this sweet Texas gal, she had been my test subject for the evening on this new theory. I had continually kept the conversation going by asking open ended questions and keeping “her story” as the focus point of the evening.
Anyone that knows me or has been around me for an extended amount of time probably has been enlightened to three facts about me (and probably a lot more): 1. I posses a certain personality which I like to call, “a unique sense of humor.” 2. I love to talk. 3. I march to a different beat of the drum than most.
I am not one to disappoint so I began in on my story. Sometime later I wrapped up the abridgement of my life and she looked at me with goofy smile on her face and said a phrase I doubt I will ever forget, “Kyle, your life is like a crazy book. Have you ever thought about writing one?” I immediately laughed at the comment because I’ve never thought about writing a book and I’ve more or less lived my life as it came. I’ve done some pretty “off the beaten path” things in my life, but in comparison to some of the individuals in my life which I admire and look up to, I believe I’m just a slightly outside normal kind of guy (this comment is still up for debate depending on who you speak to).
Anyways, this blog will serve to share excerpts from my life. It will expose me to the world, for better or for worse. So here’s to you Texas Gal, for unknowingly motivating me a few years ago during a late night conversation…enjoy
